This is another fun excursion with @bowmangroupmar This is another fun excursion with @bowmangroupmarin After playing a round of bocce we hit the local Farmer’s Market. Jennifer and Elliott are so much more than realtors. They are thriving members of our community who enjoy and support a variety of activities around town.

You can see them each month in @marinlivingmag - two pages behind the front cover of the magazine.

If you have a business that needs quarterly branding shoots for your advertising needs, send me a DM and let’s chat!

The thing about Pearl that I loved the most was th The thing about Pearl that I loved the most was that she was so much like my own mother it was uncanny. She was bold and brash and loved very deeply. She would speak her mind to anyone who would listen. She liked making people laugh and being the center of attention.

They were both tough as nails on the outside but soft and broken on the inside.

They both craved to be loved in the same way. The difference for me was that Pearl wasn’t my mom and because of that I didn’t get triggered from anything she said. Pearl could tell me that she didn’t like my hair and it didn’t bother me one bit. If my mother had said something like that to me I would get upset and defensive and angry. But not with Pearl. Anything she said rolled right off my back. I could tell her to stop or be quiet and it wasn’t a big deal.

When my sister met Pearl she later said to me, “How on earth did you find mom?! I don’t know how you did it.” But I did, and what I didn’t realize was happening over the years that we spent together, was how she was helping me heal all of the wounds I was still carrying around from my mom that hadn’t healed before she died. And the beautiful reciprocation was that I was doing the same for Pearl. She had lost her daughter too young, and now she had me.

In no way were we the replacements for each other’s loss but we filled the holes that felt so deep and dark. We created light and love in those places that we thought would ache forever.

I’m typing this wrapped in that fluffy pink bathrobe I gave her for her 99th birthday, and it makes me feel closer to her.

These are some of the people who make up the Educa These are some of the people who make up the Education Team for @strozzi_institute

I was asked to take portraits of the staff who were there that day. 26 portraits in all.

I’m no stranger to multi-person session headshots but this is one of the largest groups I’ve done.

As a photographer you have to be able to capture someone’s personality in a very short period of time and I love the challenge of finding a connection with someone in just a few minutes. Finding that spark, the twinkle in their eye, something that lights them up is what I love.

I especially loved this group of people because they are all so kind and thoughtful.

Thank you to each of you whom I photographed that day. Thank you for being open and willing and allowing me to capture your portrait. 🙏🏼❤️📸

It’s a beautiful day here in Northern California It’s a beautiful day here in Northern California. The kind of day where you want to be outside and breathe fresh air. I’ve been editing for 2 days straight, sitting in front of the computer and not getting out much. I enjoy editing, don’t get me wrong. I know there are people who don’t enjoy it , but I feel like it’s just as important as taking the photo.

Spotting an image, removing unwanted specks and cords, these are the things that in my opinion make a huge difference. A lot of people probably don’t notice when looking at one of my photographs all of the work on the backend that I do, but I would argue that the do notice. They notice by not being distracted by what I clean up. By seeing the image the way I want the@ to. Focusing on the areas I want them to see and not being distracted by anything else.

Posts to come of what I’ve been shooting in the new year so stay tuned.

Today I’m sharing my biggest work/photography “win” of 2022.

I’m not a person who likes to toot my own horn. I do like to be recognized for my work and my efforts by others, but talking about it myself isn’t my strong suit. I do know that it’s important to share our wins however, even if it feels strange. For me I know that if I don’t share my success, I’m not honoring myself or valuing myself, which for me is easy to do. I’ve struggled with self-worth for years but continue to work on quieting those demons so that I can stand tall and know I’m worthy of love, respect, and recognition.

The best part was how I found out about the article. I was working with a new client at the end of last year who is based in Zurich. They are a tech company in the filed of augmented reality. When I asked how they found me, my client said that she googled “top commercial photographers in SF” and I was on the list. I literally had to swallow my shock in that moment because I had no knowledge of any such article and wanted to come off cool and collected. I was anything but on the inside. I went home that night and did a google search and to my surprise…I found the article. It lists 12 photographers based in the SF Bay Area who do a variety of work ranging from small business branding, music, fashion, food, product, and architecture photography. All wonderful photographers who do beautiful work. Some newer to the photography industry and some who have been around for decades. And there I was…number 12 on the list.

It was incredible to discover that article and a feeling I’ll never forget.

Thank you so much Peerspace! I'm humbled and grateful to be included on this list. It truly was the highlight of my year.

UPDATE: she seems to be doing better! Not sure what was wrong. She was up all night shaking with her tail between her legs and lethargic. But she took a loooong nap and seems to have worked through it.

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you everyone for your prayers.
Best of the Best - Product When I first studied p Best of the Best - Product

When I first studied photography all those years ago, there weren’t many markets in which you could specialize. Architecture, product, fine art, food, and commercial photography were the main avenues for a professional to take.

I studied product photography and assisted a large number of product photographers in Silicon Valley back in the day. It was, and still can be, a challenging profession. Especially if you’re shooting high-end products with water droplets or something of that nature. I can remember spending hours on one shot, moving the product we were photographing micro increments to get the perfect image. It was tedious work between photographer and product.

I’ve taken those skills I learned back then and have applied them to my branding work now. Not only do I take portraits of the people who run a business, but all of the products they’re selling. This year I photographed jewelry for two different local designers. @lotteleopardjewelry and @beksandesigns and a highlight of the products being sold at a new specialty boutique in San Francisco…@thefinerie_sf

When looking for a photographer to capture your brand, I bring both product and portrait skills to the table. If you’re looking to update your website or create images for your social media…let’s talk!
