A Virtual Wedding In The Time Of Covid

Things have looked pretty different over the last couple of years due to covid, but nothing I’ve experienced was more different than the wedding I shot in September of 2021. I was hired by a sweet couple in Mill Valley, CA to photograph their online wedding from the comfort of their living room. It was just the two of them, their two sweet fur babies, and myself. The justice of the peace was online over the computer via Zoom. Their two dogs, Dozer and Izzy, were their Best Man and Maid of Honor. Dozer had a tux and Izzy had a veil which was a little tough to keep on her but we did our best! lol.

When I  arrived I  met two excited people all dressed up and raring to go. I wanted their wedding to feel as “normal” as possible. I  took photographs of the bride getting ready, details of the rings, and portraits of the bride and groom around their property. When it was time for the wedding, they sat down in front of their computer and zoomed with the online officiant. He was kind and happy and married them over the internet. Modern day technology at it’s finest. It was the most unconventional wedding I’ve photographed but it was filled with as much love and joy as any other. After the ceremony they zoomed with their families to share the good news, popped some champagne, and started their new life together as one.

This shoot reminded me that life is unconventional and humans are adaptable, and when two people are in love and decide to join their lives in matrimony, even a pandemic can’t get in the way.
