I have a passion for many things. God, my family, photography to name a few but food is right up there.
Anyone who knows me is aware of this passion. I went to the movies with some girlfriends a while back and one of them bought a big tub of popcorn. She offered it to everyone and when she looked at me she shook her head and said, “I won’t offer you any, I know you don’t want this!” She was right, I didn’t and I had to chuckle because she knew how I felt about movie theater popcorn.
We have been gluten-free for almost 5 years now and it’s been a journey. Along the way we transitioned to organic food as well. We’re not perfect, far from it, but we try to eat organic as much as possible. I would say we hit a good 90%. I would love to be at 100% and hopefully someday I will. But for now, I feel great about what we eat, what we’re teaching our children about food and how to make healthy choices for the future.
I love the message of this video because the farmer who is interviewed is honest and true. Without making his father wrong, he shares how the industrialization of food was not our best movement as a nation. He shares his joy for cultivating the ways of the past, in honor of his family and his great grandfather. He shares how he can proudly stand behind growing and serving food that is real, and for that I love his story.
I never wanted to visit Georgia and had no idea of a town called Bluffton but I can tell you after watching that video, I would visit in a heart beat.
